Frequently Asked Questions:
Does this Delasco Electricator® replace the old Model 42101 electricator?
Yes, this Delasco Electricator is the latest break- through technology in electrosurgical units and does replace the previous model. It has been updated with new improvements and many new features.
How is the Delasco Electricator different from the ConMed Hyfrecator 2000?
The Electricator has many added benefits but the main ones include:
- Up to 45 watts of output power in High and Bipolar mode and up to 25 watts in Low mode to cover all your electrosurgical needs---the Hyfrecator 2000 only allows up to 35 watts of power in High and 20 watts in low.
- The Electricator handswitching pencil is far more versatile – it has a screw down electrode collar that allows all brand 1/16” or 3/32” electrodes to fit the unit---you’re not restricted to using only one size electrode! And no more worrying about if the electrodes you already own are the right “shaft size”. Also, even many same shaft size electrodes differ tremendously in diameter and can be loose or too tight (or worse yet, spin!). The Electricator’s unique screw-down collar eliminates any worry about electrode fit.
How does the handswitching pencil measure up?
The Electricator® handswitching pencil is ergonomically shaped and fully autoclavable. Its unique 3-wire design allows the cord to be more flexible and more reliable than its 5-wire counterparts. It has a one-year warranty and in case of failure, a replacement handpiece will be shipped overnight (if Delasco notified by 3pm CST the same day!). We know the frustrations caused by malfunctioning handpieces and have worked hard to bring you the pencil with all of the features you need without the hassles of unreliability.
Do I have to switch to a different outlet jack when converting from Low to High or bipolar?
No, the Delasco Electricator® has only one handpiece jack for all modes. Once your cord is plugged in, you select the mode you want to use by pressing the corresponding button on the faceplate of the unit. There is no need to stop, unplug, and plug in different cords. The handpiece jack also accepts the optional bipolar forceps cable.
Can I control the unit with handswitching and footswitching simultaneously?
Yes, there is a separate footswitch jack so both cords can be plugged in to allow operation by hand, foot, or both. No need to purchase a separate, costly handpiece to use the footswitch as in other brands.
What comes with the Electricator?
The Electricator® electrosurgical unit comes with the unit and power cord, the autoclavable hand-switching pencil, a wall mount kit, one starter pack each of Delasco Electrolite® disposable electrodes and electrosurgical non-sterile handpiece sheaths, and an operator’s manual.
What is the warranty?
The Delasco Electricator® Unit has two years parts and labor warranty and the handpiece has a one- year warranty —the longest on the market for both!
